Wheeling Middle Students Claim Multiple Top Honors at Science Fair

Wheeling Middle School students took top honors in three separate divisions at the 58th Annual West Liberty University Science Fair on Feb. 25 at the university’s campus.

Robbie Hess was named as the event’s “Exceptional Genius” after claiming first place in the engineering division. Kaela Lawson earned the “SMART Center Award,” as she placed first in the math division. Pearson Fleming took home the “Overall Biology Award” and the “Broadcom Award” by earning first place in zoology. Josie Long earned honorable mention recognition in behavioral sciences.

The winning Wheeling Middle School students competed against more than 100 students from surrounding counties. The Wheeling students are coached by teachers Debbie McKay, Debbie Micker and Zac Klemm.
