Molly Hughes

In large part thanks to the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, Molly Hughes, art and production designer, visited with Wheeling Park High School’s Set Design, Theater, and Art IV students to share knowledge of her craft. Hughes is in town to precede the upcoming Wheeling Symphony Orchestra’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: In Concert with a Q&A session.

Hughes holds an MFA in set design from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has worked on a variety of sets including “The Fault in our Stars,” “The One and Only Ivan,” and “X-Men: The New Mutants.” Hughes also worked in the art department on “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” and every “Harry Potter” film following, ultimately serving as Art Director on the final two films in the series.

Hughes shared a meaningful message with students: “There’s a huge world out there. Experience it.”

Thank you for taking the time to share with our students today!

Wheeling Park High School offers exciting, engaging, and rigorous theater and arts classes for any interested student.
