Mrs. Lackie
#InstructionalMomentMonday aims to recognize great instructional moments in Ohio County Schools and provide feedback on how to keep the instruction going at home!

The Super Bowl is rapidly approaching, and Mrs. Lackie has found the perfect way to involve her 4th grade students!

Mrs. Lackie is a teacher at West Liberty Elementary, and her students look right at home in her classroom during instruction. “Mrs. Lackie is EVERYTHING!” a student proudly exclaims when asked about their favorite thing about math class.

Mrs. Lackie used common Super Bowl recipes to help students better understand how to convert improper fractions to simplified mixed numbers.  Mrs. Lackie uses patience, knowledge, and real-world applications to make this activity memorable for students.

Interested in helping your child in math at home?  We have many resources that can reinforce skills, including IXL and Frax, technology tools that have math problems covering a variety of standards. Student devices have access to these accounts.  These tools track data and offer encouragement and explanations to students as they practice the problems! Links to these tools

About half of Mrs. Lackie’s class believes the San Francisco 49ers will take home the win, with the other half believing the Kansas City Chiefs are destined for victory.  The majority of the class agreed there’s a good chance that Taylor Swift will also win that evening!

Thank you Mrs. Lackie for your dedication to students.  You make math exciting and memorable every day!

We are wishing everyone a great Super Bowl experience!
