Read-A-Thon
Woodsdale Elementary School is currently at the start of their Read-A-Thon!  From today, 2/5, through Friday, 2/9, Woodsdale Elementary students will be seeking pledges from relatives and friends for books read.

Sponsors may donate a flat rate or may pledge a rate per book.  Students self-report reading through sharing photos with the organizers, Mrs. LaFlam or Mrs. Young.

“We are hoping to raise as much as we can,” Young states.

The ultimate goal is to purchase a Book Vending Machine and stock the machine with popular books for children.  “Children will be able to earn tokens for books in a variety of ways, like being student of the week or reaching individual or class goals.”

The cost of the machine is approximately $6500, but meeting with 3rd grade student council representatives showed a lot of excitement and initiative: “Local businesses have already made donations!” a student exclaimed when discussing fundraising.

Students have until 2/19 to turn in their pledges, and local businesses interested in taking part in this opportunity can reach out to Mrs. Young or Mrs. LaFlam via email for more information.  Stay tuned to see if Woodsdale makes their goal!
