#InstructionalMomentMonday aims to recognize great instructional moments in Ohio County Schools and provide feedback on how to keep the instruction going at home!
Sarah Jones is an art teacher at Bridge Street Middle School. Not only is she an incredibly talented artist, she’s also a kind, patient, and enthusiastic teacher.
“This is my absolute favorite class. It’s always low stress and the projects are awesome and meaningful,” an 8th grade student states.
Jones aims to be as hands on as possible and tends to pull in art history with nearly every project.
All three grade levels are rounding out their school year with sculptures, but Jones adjusts the expectation per grade level, with 8th grade completing the most challenging project: a personalized name sculpture.
“I love seeing their creativity. This specific group always takes a step beyond their expectation. This is a personal 8th grade farewell project,” states Jones.
Don’t hesitate to explore the history behind art at home. Pinterest has a ton of ideas for all ages that team up famous artists and recreations of those projects for children.
Fortunately, the #ArtsinOCS have exciting opportunities at all age levels. Continue supporting creativity at home by offering opportunities for art when able!
