#InstructionalMomentMonday aims to recognize great instructional moments in Ohio County Schools and provide feedback on how to keep the instruction going at home!

Dr. Angela Day is a general music and chorus teacher at both Steenrod Elementary School and Triadelphia Middle School. A visit to her 5th grade chorus class showed students preparing a ukulele and singing number to premiere at 5th grade promotion!

“The best thing about Dr. Day is…well…EVERYTHING,” a student states.  “She’s just the best.  We’ve covered everything in this class.  We do musicians, orchestras, instruments, and chords,” another student states.

Dr. Day explains that the ukuleles the class are using are from a successful donorschoose.com project.  She explains that some students in general music will be playing at promotion while the chorus students will be singing, though some in chorus have taken a liking to both playing AND singing.

The students sound PHENOMENAL, and we can’t wait to see them perform for their families!

Music is everywhere, and we love to see students excited about the #ArtsinOCS from a young age!  We are fortunate to have wonderful elementary music teachers who help to build the programs available for older students!

Keep the action going at home by dancing, singing, and exploring a variety of musical genres with your child at home!
