Educational growth: The process of gaining knowledge and skills over time.
A recent study coming out of Harvard University shows that the state of WV, specially citing Ohio County Schools among the counties mentioned, is showing growth at a phenomenal rate when exploring Covid-19 recovery test data. This week, the WV Department of Education released a press release discussing the study in detail:
“The Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University cites West Virginia’s education recovery efforts among the top in the country. According to its Education Recovery Scorecard (issued in collaboration with The Educational Opportunity Project at Stanford University), West Virginia ranked 6th in growth for math and 11th in growth for reading. The study was released this week and an overview was shared with members of the West Virginia Board of Education (WVBE) during its February meeting in Charleston today.”
We continue to make strides not only in growth, but ultimately to help students be successful in whatever career pathway they choose. This could not happen without:
🧑🏫 Our staff.
We are grateful for dynamic teachers, interventionists and specialists who work with our students every day to move the academic needle. We have exceptional counselors who work with the mental health and needs of our students.
🏫 Our administrative team.
We are making gains because of your leadership, dedication, and expertise.
👧 Our families.
Our kids are who they are because of you. Your investment in education and effort does not go unnoticed.
✅ Our community.
We hear frequently about changes that must be made in our state. You’ve heard it, and we’ve heard it. We ARE changing, growing, and improving. We continue to work on improvement, and we will not stop. We thank our community for their investment in education.
Dr. Miller states, “Our continued investments in our students and their growth is invaluable. We are thrilled to see this growth recognized on a national level.”
Thank you to the WV Department of Education for releasing the great news and to Harvard University for taking interest in our state and county. We will be working with local news media WTRF 7News, WTOV NEWS9, and The Intelligencer / Wheeling News-Register to discuss the details further early next week.
