Education Alliance and Wheeling Park High School have joined forces to create a memorable experience for students that will soon enter employment and education opportunities.

For the last year, Wheeling Park High School has earned the designation of an “Innovation Demonstration School.” Due to this distinction, WPHS is able to utilize a Partnership Coordinator through Education Alliance, a program designed to strengthen school and business partnerships in the state of WV.  Wheeling Park will also be available for several schools in the state to tour and gain more information about Park’s array of programming options.

Park’s Partnership Coordinator is Mrs. Jeanie Prince.  Prince is a long time educator that retired as an elementary school teacher from Putnam County Schools in 2011.  She’s spent the last year with Education Alliance working closely with the administration at WPHS to offer a variety of partnership solutions.

Beginning Friday, October 3rd, students at Park will be able to self-select for the chance to hear first hand from local business owners and employees.  Once a week, a variety of speakers from several unique and applicable fields will head to the Beneke Theater in Wheeling Park to speak to students in a panel style discussion moderated by WPHS Speech and Debate Students. This program aligns directly with Park’s post graduation goals of employment, enlistment, and education.

The speaker sessions are scheduled from 9:15 and 10:00 and broken down into specified blocks.  The first series will feature local entrepreneurs such as Sarah Lydick, owner of Sarah’s on Main, Andrew Hollis, owner of  Wheelcraft Bicycles, Jessica Barclay, Co-Owner of Play-n-Stay Pet Camp and Thrive Med-spa  and Brad Becca, owner BB Athletics & Level up Athletics.

In the month of October alone, additional session opportunities include union and tradeworkers, non-profit sector employees, EQT managers, and Oglebay management.

This is yet another great way for young students to explore their post graduate options from professionals living it daily while truly experiencing The Park.
