Ohio County Schools is proud of its excellent school counselors!!!
“National School Counseling Week 2021” is being celebrated Feb. 1-5, and this year’s theme is “School Counselors: All In for All Students.” Triadelphia Middle School counselor Mika Ward is serving in her first year at the school, and she had an enthusiastic response when asked how her first year as a Raider has been.
“I love it,” Ward said.
Ward is serving in her first full year in education. She is a 2003 graduate of John Marshall High School, and she earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from West Virginia in 2007. In 2020, she earned her master’s degree in education from Liberty University.
Ward said she is passionate about her work, and she enjoys interacting with the students at TMS.
“There is something new every day,” she said. “The kids are fantastic, and I love working with them… I enjoy the social-emotional learning of the students, and the academic planning aspect of being a counselor. I like to connect with the students, and, as a counselor, I get to know the students on a more personal level. It’s been a very rewarding experience.”
Ohio County Schools is thanking its counselors for their dedicated work and their commitment to their students. Ward is shown with Triadelphia Middle School sixth-grade student Rylee Molnar.
