Megan Higgans

Megan Higgins has been selected as the 2021-2022 Wheeling Middle School Teacher of the Year.

Higgins is a sixth-grade teacher at Wheeling Middle School. She joined Ohio County Schools at the start of the 2015-2016 school year as an English/Language arts teacher at Bridge Street Middle School. She moved on to teach English/Language arts at Wheeling Middle the following year.

Higgins works closely with 2017-2018 Ohio County Schools Teacher of the Year Adrianne Manning. Manning said Wildcat students are fortunate to have a teacher as exceptional as Higgins.

“Ms. Higgins is dedicated to helping them learn how to be responsible Wildcats,” Manning said. “Let's face it, sixth grade is a difficult year, but because of the patience and dedication of teachers like Ms. Higgins, our students are quick to learn how to take on the many new responsibilities of middle school. I am privileged to team with her in developing our reading and literature curriculum at Wheeling Middle School. We work easily together, and I have learned and grown as a teacher from the many suggestions Megan brings to the table. She is an asset to Wheeling Middle and Ohio County Schools.”

Higgins said she was honored to be named as Wheeling Middle’s teacher of the Year. She said she loves the Wildcat students, and she is proud to be a part of the Wheeling Middle team.

“I love working with the staff and students at Wheeling Middle School and couldn't imagine working anywhere else,” Higgins said. “Having the opportunity to work in a building with such an amazing staff and wonderful students makes it a pleasure showing up every day.”
