Many of our staff members working in Ohio County Schools have a spouse or family member that is also employed by OCS. Occasionally, we have a school with twice the fun! In this case, look no further than Woodsdale Elementary School!
Miss Kristi and Miss Courtney (maiden names Taylor) are both Disney enthusiasts, West Liberty University grads, alumni cheerleaders, coaches, and teachers! They have a combined 17 years in education with both working as Tiger teachers for the entire duration of their careers.
Miss Kristi currently teaches special education, and Miss Courtney teaches P.E. The best part about working together? “She’s my creative. She (Courtney) is very artistic, and she’ll help me craft anything,” Kristi states. “And she buys the snacks!” jokes Courtney.
The pair agrees that the overall best part about working together is being a constant support for the other and being able to offer that support on both good and bad days. And their favorite part of teaching? The kids. “I keep my students from year to year, so seeing that growth is really special,” states Kristi. “I love that as the P.E. teacher, I get to see every student in the building. It’s great building that relationship,” states Courtney.
Kindergarten teacher, Miss Trisha, adds “It’s always funny when the kids find out they’re sisters. There’s an element of shock and awe, and it’s really cute!”
Miss Kristi and Miss Courtney are proud OCS Alumni, attending Madison Elementary School, Triadelphia Middle School, and Wheeling Park High School. In their spare time, Courtney is a proud mom to 1 year old son, Tate, and both Kristi and Courtney coach cheerleading, Kristi at Wheeling Park High School, and Courtney at West Liberty University. Miss Kristi and Miss Courtney, thank you for sharing your time with us today! We’re lucky to have you in Ohio County!
