WV Shaped Trophy
Looking for something new to do this weekend?  Look no further than Ohio County Archery's 8th annual Shot in the Park tournament!

Over 850 archers representing 62 schools from the tri-state area are headed to the Highlands Sports Complex starting Friday, 1/16.

The two day tournament begins Friday at 6:30 P.M. and will offer both bullseye and 3D competitive options for archers.

Saturday’s events will follow the same schedule, with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. “We have top-notch archers registered,” said Rick Thomas, retired OCS teacher and current head archery coach. “Each year, coaches and schools look forward to competing in this large-scale tournament. Many coaches and archers say competing here feels like shooting at a state tournament.”

The tournament features state and tri-state experts: last year, former WPHS senior Kimber Koehler won the NASP Championship Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In addition, former Tournament Top Shot archer and current Muskingum University senior Kylee Brookover is the 2025–26 Collegiate 3D Nationals Champion. Brookover will be on site to share her experiences and discuss archery opportunities available after high school graduation.  The tournament will also feature elite archer Kaylee Zimmerman, traveling from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who placed third at the NASP Championship. WPHS CTE programs will create the trophies awarded to the winners.

Children have free entry and adults are $5.00.  The archery program is a point of pride in our county appealing to a variety of students at various programmatic levels.
