Ruth Bankey has been selected as the 2021-2022 Steenrod Elementary School Service Personnel Employee of the Year.
Bankey is a Supervisory Instructional Aide at Steenrod. She began her career in Ohio County Schools in 2008 when she served as a bus aide. Bankey served as an aide at Wheeling Middle School beginning in 2010 before moving on to serve as an aide at Elm Grove Elementary School in 2018. Bankey moved to Steenrod at the beginning of the current school year.
Steenrod Elementary School Principal Michelle Dietrich said Bankey is an important member of the school’s staff, and Cardinal students truly appreciate her.
“While Mrs. Bankey is assigned to one classroom, she is an asset to all,” Dietrich said. “She is one of the first to offer assistance wherever it is needed. Her no-nonsense approach gets results from the students she works with. They know that she means business, and yet she is also compassionate.”
Bankey said she is proud to be a Steenrod Cardinal.
“I am so blessed to work with such awesome people at Steenrod,” she said.
