Freshman, Karringtyn Miller, was a guest of the WVSSAC at their recent Board of Directors meeting in Parkersburg. Karringtyn shared the highlights of the WVSSAC sponsored Student Leadership Summit that she attended in September. She is certainly an up-and-coming leader at Wheeling Park!

Reminder for Tuesday, January 9

2024-2025 FAFSA Is Now Live! The U.S. Department of Education released the new 2024-2025 FAFSA on December 31, 2023. This FAFSA is very different in how students and parents complete it. One of the big changes is students and parents will need to create their FSA ID/Studentaid.gov account at least 3-5 days prior to starting the FAFSA. Parents who already have an account will not need to create a new one. A FAFSA Line-by-Line webinar is available, which will explain the changes that have been made. A few calendar reminders as we prepare for winter break.   Tomorrow, Wednesday Dec. 20, is a regular school day. If your child will not be in attendance, it is important to call the Main Office to ensure the absence is coded. Students can also bring parent notes or doctor notes when they return from break.   Winter Break starts Thursday, December 21st and runs through Tuesday, January 2nd.   Students return to school on Wednesday, January 3rd.   We will begin our 2nd semester schedules on Thursday, January 11th.   There is no school on Monday, January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.   We hope you all have a wonderful and safe winter break.

The WPHS Social Studies Department is holding a Holiday Toy Drive! Toys will be accepted through December 18th.

Today our Student Council had the opportunity to meet with OCS Child Nutrition Director, Renee Griffin, to provide feedback on the current food offerings as well as taste- test some new options. Students tried everything from confetti waffles to plant-based chicken tikka masala. This is always a highlight of the Student Council year. #experienceTHEPARK #wearePARK

It was a wonderful morning celebrating our WVSSAC Academic Achievement Award winners. Wheeling Park High School had three winners! Congratulations to Kathryn Prather (Female Athlete), Grant Kenamond (Male Community Service) and Ryleigh Hicks (Female Community Service). Wheeling Park High School will host a public Local School Improvement Council meeting on Monday, November 27 at 4 p.m. in Tech 1. Please enter at the Main Entrance. We will share recent school updates and finalize our 2023-2024 LSIC goals.

Mrs. Dailer has spent that last two days with 11th graders. Her presentation discusses the value of strong SAT/ACT scores and their connection to merit-based aid. This presentation coincides with the release of PSAT scores that many 11th graders took. Wheeling Park has partnered with Khan Academy to ensure students have exposure to the new digital format and master content for the 11th grade SAT Test Day. #wearePARK #experienceTHEPARK
